Odessa's First Graduation

Both Odessa and Georgia are really putting on the pounds. Well, one pound anyway. But when you only have 5lbs, one makes a major difference. Born at 4lbs 10oz, Odessa weighed in at 5lbs 9oz on April 24th, one month after birth. This means that she has graduated from her Preemie wardrobe to actual newborn attire. (Although to be honest, some of those are still a bit big on her.)

Georgia (pictured here wearing the cupcake) while still sporting the preemie threads, weighed in at 5lbs on April 24th. This up a pound and a half from her birth weight. She'll get to those newborn clothes before you know it.

Both girls are eating really well, although still have some trouble keeping it down. Both are getting much more alert, looking around and checking out their surroundings. Georgia is particularly observant and wide eyed. And Odessa is very vocal, grunting so much, she is about to start making words out of it.

Mommy's in Brooklyn but she still loves you.

Dear lovely babies,
When you are 35 and start to ask questions about what it was like when you were tiny, like I'm doing now to your Nana, I want to be able to show you your blog. So here, for posterity. I am very big and you are very small. We are in love. We're perfect for each other. Look:

That's all. Just wanted to say hi. Because it's my first day away from you in your whole lives, and I miss you, that's all.

How sweet! Two boys?

Baby O and Baby Geo now both seem to know they have a sister. And a cat. Whatever those are!

Since they're such big-time pukers (and have to sleep separately on incline wedges to try and hang onto their lunches) they don't get much of this sort of cuddling/secret-telling/kick-boxing time. When they do, though, Mama and Mommy are there with the camera like the big baby voyeurs we are.

Many, many photos of the twins conspiring together.

Spring flowers

Teatime after Nana's favorite walk through The Botanical Gardens but Odessa and Georgia are napping their way through spring.  Hey, wake up and smell the flowers!  We discovered there are daffodils named after you -- Suada and Georgia Moon.  Or are there babies named after daffodils?

Growth spurt

The babies are growing and their public is demanding new stats:
Georgia: 4lbs 7oz, 18 inches
Odessa: 4lbs 13 oz, 18 inches (maybe more)

In other news, they've recently been to the doctor... a lot. They're stars of the waiting room. They pee on the nurses. They give the old ladies naches. All in the line of duty.

And they made their first trip to a bar. Okay, it was during the day, people! They were with their Nana! Don't panic.

The twins reunited.

Georgia came home from the hospital on Wednesday, April 10th.

We brought Odessa along to pick up her long-lost sister. In classic style and probably foreshadowing, she slept through it.

When we finally got them into the same crib, there was a little wiggling around and poking and saying hello, and then everyone fell asleep. And that's pretty much how it's stayed since then.

Some photos are here:

And some video of the reunion (maybe interesting only to us...) is here:

Bringing Odessa home

We all spent 4 days in the hospital, then we took Odessa home. Georgia had to stay behind to grow a little. The two were separated till they were 14 days old.

Here are Odessa pix:
